As I’ve said elsewhere, I worked at a local pizza shop during high school and college. At the time, I didn’t understand the obsession with dipping pizza in ranch, since premade ranch is full of garlic. As we’ve experimented more and more with vegan recipes, ranch has come back into our condiment repertoire, and I now understand what all the fuss was about. I missed out on years of ranchy goodness, but that’s ok… Better late than never!
I wanted to dedicate a post specifically to it, as you’ll be seeing it pop up from time to time in some of the recipes I plan to write about. Say hello to the newest dip in your tasty little arsenal.
1 C. vegan mayonnaise (we use Vegenaise)
1 ½ t. onion powder
½ t. celery seed
½ t. parsley flakes
1 T. cider vinegar
2 T. nutritional yeast
1 t. minced garlic (optional)
1 T. nut milk (we use soy)
Prep time: 5 min.
Yield: ~ 1 C.
-Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir until smooth.
This dip is great for sliced veggies or pretzels, but also works well as a white sauce on pizza. You could even use it as a salad dressing if that’s your thing.
